Where have I been?

The weeks are flying past quicker than I could ever imagine this year.  How is it almost May already? The past few months are a blur! New orders pile in daily, and I really do thank YOU for that! It’s such a sense of accomplishment, to be able to continue with this business I have grown over the years.  I have so many plans on what to do, where to go from here; my best ideas hit me at 3am in the rocking chair with Gabe. And since he has no intention of ever sleeping at night, stay tuned, I will share more soon…

With 4 kids and a husband, there’s never a dull moment in our home! Bored? um, what’s that!? In February our 3 year old son, Nate, was quite ill; he spent a week at Children’s Hospital in Vancouver. He was taken over in a helicopter,  and hubby had to room with him 24/7, while I stayed home to take care of the other 3 kids (which 2 of 3 were also sick!), and make day trips back and forth to see them. Totally exhausting and emotionally draining. It’s amazing how one week can shake things up for a while! So happy all is well again in our home :)

March brought us sad and happy. Sad first, my Macbook Pro DIED!! It was a sad, sad day. Sigh… now an organized person would’ve had everything backed up. Not feeling so organized these days! Lucky with some help, all data was retrievable, phew! Wrist slap accepted, lesson learned. Shop for new laptop is now added to the “list”.

Now for happy! We celebrated 2 birthdays in our family. Nate turned 3! This boy loves his Shrek. How fitting for him to have a Shrek party!

And Gabriel turned 1! Want a year of your life to pass by in 10 mins? Just add baby 4 to your family!

Must share these pics from Easter. Grandma’s highly anticipated egg hunt. I’m always sure to drive home the true meaning of why we celebrate Easter. With minimal prying the response I got from my oldest this year “Yes Mom we know, Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and its not really about candy and chocolate and bunnies.” So proud of my girl Rachel! Love the pic of my 3 older cuties. (excuse footwear!)  Can you feel their excitement?!

I promise to be back soon with all the new things I’ve been working on! Until then, let’s have a sale for just you, our lovely blog readers. 15% off your entire purchase, (not including shipping or tax) with code HAPPY15, valid all week :) Happy Monday!!

25 Things About Me

I always like learning about the owners of the other businesses I shop from. A friend did this on her blog and thought I’d do the same. Here we go, 25 random things about me :)

1. Love coffee. Starbucks especially. The darker and stronger, the better! Ok Bailey’s doesn’t hurt either but thats usually reserved for special mornings  (or some playdates, ahem!)

2. I grew up in a family with 6 kids. Big families rock :)

3. My husband and I have 2 girls and 2 boys. Rachel(6), Emma (4), Nathan(3), and  Gabriel(almost 1). Life is crazy and full and we love it!

4. If I had a dollar for everytime someone asked me one of the following, we’d be in Turks and Caicos vacationing indefintely!  (a) Are these kids all yours? (b) Are any of them twins? (c) Do they all have the same Dad? (d) So you’re done, right?

5. I love my job!

6. Started dating my husband 12 years ago! We will celebrate 8 years of marriage this July! That old saying is true, time flies when you’re having fun :)

7. I found out I have Celiac Disease almost 3 years ago. Making the change to a gluten free diet was hard at first, but I’m so happy I did. Feel soooo much better! I also like seeing celebs trying it out as the “in” diet to try! I don’t have a choice, its a forever change.

8. My son Nate has severe food allergies. He is anaphylactic. I’ve had to epipen him 3 seperate times. No eggs, dairy, peanuts or tree nuts. No “may contain traces of”, no “processed in a facility that also processes…” The great thing? We don’t buy any crap! Another great thing? I’ve actually learned to bake EDIBLE wheat+gluten, dairy, egg and nut free items that are delicious!! (and healthy too :)

8. Sunday is my fav day of the week. Church, brunch, naps, no working, just 100% happy family day!

9. Roast beef dinners! Another reason to love Sundays!!

10. We live on the Sunshine Coast, while at times I miss city life, raising our kids here is such a good thing. Love having our friends in the same neighborhood (makes the weekly Mama wine nites SO much easier!) and running into someone we know everyday around town.

11. 5 minutes down the road is the beach. Awesome? We think so!

12. Love when friends tell me they are pregnant! Sitting on a few secrets as we speak :) So happy for them, love babies!

13. I get up between 5 and 5:30 everyday. I actually kind of like it!

14. Best grocery store ever!!

15. Friends and family tease me that I’ve become a hippy since we moved to BC 8.5 years ago. I do love organic, knowing where my food is grown and whats in it. It is important to us to feed our kids healthy food and teach them what is good/bad food for them. I’m proud to say they think McDonald’s is digusting junk, and that they all ask for ground flax, quinoa or chia seeds on their yogurt/applesauce/oatmeal!!

16. I’ve come to appreciate moments in life that let you find out who your real friends are. No time for flakes people, no time!!

17. We built our house and moved in just over 3 years ago. Since then we’ve added 2 babies to the family :) I’m finally starting to hang pictures on the walls this year!

18. My girls are dying to go to Disneyland. My sister and I have plans to take our crew in 2 years. Can’t wait :)

19. Thanks to my sister Kat, I’m a bit obessed with doing this everyday. Its been awesome watching the pounds and inches melt off.

20. The older I get, the more I appreciate my parents and all that they’ve done and taught me. I’ve lost count of my apologies to them for the teenage years!!

21. My girls sleep much longer and better than my boys. I used to be a Baby Whisperer fanatic. Now, whatevs works!!

22. Exciting things happening in our family this year. Can’t share anything yet. and before you ask, I’m not pregnant!!

23. Wish my family lived closer. I’m thankful they visit often, but sometimes it’d just be nice to “stop by” for lunch, or ditch the kids guilt-free for a weekend and head into Vancouver with my sweetie! lol!!

24. Red, red wine!!

25. Summer is our fav season. We’ve already started to add outings to our “summer must-do” list. This and this  are at the TOP of the list so far!

There you go, some random things about me! Hope you know me a little better now :) If you are doing the same on your blog, leave me a link in the comments, I’d love to check it out!

I’m SO busy!

I make an effort not to use the phrase “I’m so busy!” Let’s agree on one thing, we are all busy. Whether we have no children, 1 child or 4+ (ahem!); work out of the home, at home, stay at home, run our own business, work for someone else, life is just busy!  I do make it a priority to make time for what is important though. A while back, I was folding laundry and watching Jack Layton’s  funeral. The words his daughter and son spoke captured me. They said their dad (who was obviously a very busy person) always made time for family, and they really loved that about him. Each week he would come by for a walk, to read books or have a tea party with his grand daughter. He never made anyone feel like he should be somewhere else or was too busy to visit (even though he did have a million+ things to do!). I want my kids to feel the same way. There will always be a house to clean, businesess to run, errands to complete. At the end of the day, I ask myself what really matters the most? I know these monkeys won’t be small for long…
